1. Acceptance of Terms

This document outlines the Terms of Service (ToS) for using ScienceFairTools, a web-based tool for managing science fair events. By using our service, you agree to be bound by these terms.

2. Description of Service

ScienceFairTools is an online platform designed for science fair administrators (fair admins) and judges. The service enables fair admins to enter projects and judges into the system. Judges can score projects, and the service calculates rankings of each project using z-scores.

3. User Responsibilities

• Fair Admins: Responsible for accurately entering data for projects and judges. Must ensure compliance with all applicable privacy and data protection laws, especially concerning children’s data. This includes adhering to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) when collecting, using, or disclosing personal information from children under 13 years of age. Fair admins must obtain verifiable parental consent when required and are responsible for managing this process in compliance with COPPA.
• Judges: Expected to score projects fairly and impartially. Must maintain the confidentiality of the information and scores they access.

4. Intellectual Property

All content and software on ScienceFairTools, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, and software code, is the property of ScienceFairTools or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.

5. User Data

Users are responsible for the accuracy of the data they input. ScienceFairTools is not responsible for verifying the data entered by users.

6. Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Policy, explains how we handle the collection, use, and sharing of personal information.

7. Prohibited Uses

Users shall not:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or its related systems or networks.
• Upload or transmit viruses or other harmful computer code.

8. Compliance with Laws

Users agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations while using the ScienceFairTools service. This includes, but is not limited to, compliance with COPPA and other relevant privacy and data protection laws. Fair admins are specifically responsible for ensuring their use of the service is in compliance with COPPA when dealing with children’s data.

9. Limitation of Liability

ScienceFairTools shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the service.

10. Termination

ScienceFairTools reserves the right to terminate your access to the service for any breach of these terms.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

12. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by Utah law. Any disputes arising from these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Utah's courts.
